He was a soldier and served hisnation in the war between the states. When a young man he was converted and became a member of the Methodist church. August 16th he fell and broke his hip and all that loving handcould do was done to alleviate his suffering, being taken to the Cullers hospital at Trenton, where he passed to his reward. I know not what the future hath, Of marvel or surprise; I only know that life and death His mercy underlies, And if myheart and flesh be weak To bear the untried pain, A bruised reed He will not break, But strengthen and sustain.Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Young of Edina, Mo., a former pastor, and Rev. G. W. Ridley, the pastor in charge of the Camp Ground church, Sept. 3 at 2:30 o'clock and interment was made in the cemetery near the church.Eliakim Johnson Obit - Milan Standard - 9/4/1930Transcribed by Brian Sanders 10/14/2009E.
