    Obituary  Ollie Johnson Obit - Milan Republic - 6/14/1937 Transcribed by Brian Sanders 10/14/2009Osgood Man Found DeadSuffers Heart Attack While at Chores; Health Poor Several MonthsR. Ollie Johnson of Osgood died unexpectedly Sunday morning at the Jack Hill farm, now owned by Mrs. George J. Kent. He and Mrs. Johnson had been there the past three weeks taking care of the home and doing the chores for their son, ErnieJohnson, who is in the hospital here recovering from a major operation.Sunday morning Mr. Johnson went to the barn to do the chores and when he did not return after a reasonable time Mrs. Johnson became alarmed. Failing to get an answer when she called, she began a search for him, but did not find him. Near thenoon hour, Paul Hill, living near by went to the barn and in the north part of the barn found him in a sitting position leaning against a post. It was believed he had been dead since 8 o'clock.The coroner of Sullivan county was called and he said death was the result of endocorditis, the effect of influenza. He was 64 years old May 9.Mr. Johnson had not been well for several months, although he did not quit work. Last Thursday evening about milking time he suffered a heart attack, but after lying down a short time recovered and assisted Mrs. Johnson with the milking.Mr. Johnson, who was the son of the late A. W. and Martha Johnson, was born May 9, 1873, on a farm three miles north of Galt where he grew to manhood. With the exception of one year in Arkansas, he had always lived in the community of Galt andin Osgood, moving to Osgood about 20 years ago.He was married to Miss Lizzie Phipps Oct. 19, 1898. He did very little farming as he was a carpenter by trade and followed that trade most of the time. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant church of north of Galt.Besides his wife the survivors include two daughters, Mrs. O. E. Hart and Mrs. Ray Hatcher, both of the community of Osgood; two sons, Loyal at home and Ernie of south of Humphreys; one sister, Mrs. W. B. Weston of Osgood; four brothers, Roy andJohn Johnson of Galt; Ott Johnson of Osgood and Robert Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa., and also 11 grandchildren survive.The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Christian church in Osgood, conducted by the Rev.
