    Biography  Edwin A. EmmonsEdwin A. Emmons, farmer, section 31, Tampico Township, was born in Coloma Township, this county, Feb. 4, 1847, his parents being Samuel and Malind (Booth) Emmons. His father, a native of Pennsylvania and a farmer by occupation, settled in TampicoTownship in 1870, and died Feb. 29, 1880, at the age of 67 years. Edwin's mother was born in Virginia, and died July 24, 1883, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Nancy J. Macomber, in Sterling. The subject of this sketch, the elder of the twochildren born to his parents, was married the first time in Sterling, Jan. 25, 1867, to Miss Sarah Pike, a native of the State of NewYork. His second marriage occurred in Tampico, March 1, 1876, when he wedded Miss Irene Foy, daughter of Danieland Matilda (Williams) Foy. Her father is a native of New York, and her mother of Kentucky. The latter were married in Hancock County, this State, and after a residence for some time in Tampico Township, this county, moved in 1874 to PhillipsColorado., Kan. Mrs. Emmons was born in this county, Dec. 17, 1852. She is now the mother of two children, namely: Mabel, who was born June 28, 1877; and Minnie, born Jan. 1, 1883. Mr. Emmons occupies the old homestead, which he now owns and whichcomprises 200 acres of well imporved land. He is a School Director, and in his political views is a decided Republican.  [4
